Coalesce Dance is dedicated to giving young dancers (ages 8-18) the opportunity to explore dance on film, gain real on-set experience, and build a professional portfolio. Through collaborative and cinematic dance projects, we bridge the gap between pre-professional dance and the film industry, empowering young dancers with the tools, confidence, and creative vision to bring their artistry to the screen. GROUP FILM
EXPERIENCE
Join a dynamic, collaborative process and immerse yourself in the creation of a professional group dance film. This journey begins with rehearsals to learn, perfect, and clean the choreography, leading up to a full-scale production shoot. Choreography is designed specifically for the filming process, ensuring that every movement translates seamlessly onto the screen. Dancers will work with a professional crew, and experience the magic of costuming, hair, and makeup—all on set.
Throughout this process, dancers will gain real production experience, learning how dance evolves from rehearsal to camera. If selected, dancers will have the opportunity to showcase their work at prestigious film festivals, where their artistry will be seen by a wider audience. Upon completion, dancers will receive the fully edited and colored version of the film to add to their portfolio. This experience is for ages 10-18.
SOLO FILM
EXPERIENCE
Dancers can have a solo of their choice professionally filmed on a set—whether it's a pre-prepared competitive solo or a newly choreographed piece. Filming will take place over 1 production day with no extra weekly rehearsals required.
This experience offers dancers the opportunity to work with a professional crew in a studio setting where they will be fully styled with hair and makeup. The one-day production shoot ensures that dancers receive high-quality, cinematic footage that will elevate their portfolio and showcase their talent. Whether it's for a college application, agent submission, or simply to preserve a cherished solo, this is the perfect way to capture a solo in a professional, polished format. Dancers will receive their fully edited and colored solo film to add to their reel or personal collection. This experience is for ages 8-18.

Dance Film, also known as screen dance, video dance or dance on camera, is a unique cinematic and choreographic artform that combines the visual language of both dance and film. This collaborative approach allows choreographers and filmmakers to challenge and experiment with movement in a visceral and conceptual way. There are numerous approaches to dance film, from telling a story through motion to challenging notions of choreography within the frame. Ultimately, the intention is to examine how dance and film can unite to create a new choreographic visual narrative.

This is a pre professional company for ages 8-18. The Solo Film Experience is open to ages 8 and up while the Group Film Experience is open to ages 10 and up.

For the Group Film Experience, rehearsals will be held at your local dance studio, with production shoots taking place in San Antonio or surrounding cities. Exact locations will be determined closer to filming.
For the Solo Film Experience, filming takes place in a professional production studio in Austin, TX.

For the Group Film Experience, dancers will have 2-3 choreography days to set the piece, followed by ongoing group rehearsals at their local studio leading up to the film shoot. The production day will be scheduled afterward.
For the Solo Film Experience, filming takes place in just one production day, with no additional rehearsals required.

The tuition rate varies based on the number of pieces a dancer participates in. Dancers can choose from three tiers:

So frequently when dancers move on to their professional part of their career, they have zero material to show their work and capabilities. Coalesce wants to provide young dancers not only a unique experience of filming dance but also tangible footage that these dancers can share of their dancing. Dancers can use this footage to create reels to submit to auditions, agencies, colleges, or just to share for fun.
